1. In my opinion students can be made aware of 'Consumer Rights' by including these topics in the textbooks and setting up educative sessions in the school. 2. Yes,as a consumer i have felt cheated a few times.for example,in some shops some goods are sold with a higher price than the maximum retail price(MRP) issued on the packet.
1.according to me students can be explained better about consumer rights by programmes like drama ,short kits or workshops. 2.yes, i have felt cheated as a consumer when the product i recently brought does not perform as promised.
1. I reckon that (humorous) plays can explain students about Consumer Rights effectively. 2. As a consumer, I felt cheated when the shopkeeper handed me a Rs.2 toffee instead of providing the change.
1.according to me consumer rights can be given as a topic in textbooks and can make rallies ,runs to make student aware of consumer rights 2.no ,i have not experienced any
1) 'Consumer Awareness' should be made a compulsory topic in all schools. Skits and dramas should be shown to students to create awareness. 2) Yes,I have felt cheated as a consumer a few times. For eg-- Autos in Chennai never follow the meter and charge about 70-80rs for a distance of 2kms.
1) Present day students are very much into social networking. All information related to 'Consumer Rights ' can be made available through this media. 2) Yes, I have felt cheated as a consumer while it was informed that the quality of the dress was upto the mark but after the first wash the colour faded .
I sure did read the instructions and even handwashed the garment. Inspite of this, the colour faded this indicates the low quality. Therefore i demanded a replacement.
poor quality of clothing is one of the most common way in which all of us are being cheated but we tend to not bother too much about it because we do not consider it as a means of cheat very good example !!!!
1. I am not taking much time to realise. Its only just there was a network problem during that period. 2. I agree to Sravani's views for this "classic" scenario.
1. We can make Students aware of 'Consumer Rights' by teaching as a lesson from class 4 ,like we learnt agriculture from 4th to 9th . 2. Yes, when i receive gas cylinders they wont ask for tips ,but they add 30 or 40 Rs. more than the actual MRP rate. And we use to give
1. "Consumer Rights" and remedy for cheating including legal procedures such as Ombudsman etc., is to be made simple and easy and explain the same through print and electronic media.
2. I was cheated daily by paying more for autos, gas cylinder, balance in way of toffees, Purchase of Expired products
1.'consumer rights' is a generic topic which one should be aware of.Including these topics in the books, creating awareness by in many ways like rallies, drams, demonstrations etc will promote the knowledge about consumer rights. 2.Most recently we brought water can from our near shop, and unfortunately the seal was broken. When we complaint about this the shopkeeper, he refused to take action, and even we could not do anything.
1. By making advertisements on TV about consumerism and doing that rigorously. I agree about using social media as a medium for education, but I strongly disagree about taking consumerism as a compulsory subject in schools. It just doesn't go with it since consumer rights is a huge topic on economics(for this matter just check newspapers itself).Instead of this making this as a subject, it could be taken as a sort of a “modern” life skill to educate them about consumerism. 2. No I don’t have many but my family members, yes. One day ,my grandmother got a phone call form from OLA cabs that she had booked for a cab and she had had to pay RS. 240 for the ride along with RS. 100 as waiting charges. Even though she hadn't taken a ride at all. So, she told my mother about it and me and my father decided to first complain at the main office about this. It was later revealed that someone had given a wrong phone number and my grandmother was been called upon that taxi driver again and again. At last, when we said we are going to the court about this issue, the taxi driver paid RS. 340 as a fine that he wont do it again.
But,any kind of inconvenience to consumer caused by the service provider is not good. But he was claiming wrongly,to get money.Either way,who had to pay the money would have escaped if we didn't act.
we can make students aware by showing ads in media and social networks.as we youngsters should go rallies road by road and understand the rights of the consumers i have also being cheated by one small incident:i brought a charger for 300 rs but the actual MRP price was 200.
we can make students aware by showing ads in media and social networks.as we youngsters should go rallies road by road and understand the rights of the consumers i have also being cheated by one small incident:i brought a charger for 300 rs but the actual MRP price was 200.
student should be educated about consumer rights. students should know various methods of people are cheated, so that students can escape from those things and they can too educate some people about these things. thus this is my idea.
I strongly support the introduction of topics such as 'consumer rights',as it makes an individual aware, bold enough to face certain situations of cheating! We can make students aware of 'consumer rights' by making them go through or simply introducing them to the real life situations where we all get cheated in some manner or the other! Individuals can also be taught using TEACHING AIDS such as clippings, videos (etc) Skit(s)and even role plays too have positive impact .................
Yes , I too have felt cheated in many instances like the case of 'autos' in Chennai and particularly in the cases of goods which we buy from the local shops which are particularly sub-standard and over-ratted (over-priced). I also have felt cheated travelling through the over crowded share-auto(s) where I do not get a seat but the driver asks for the same amount of cash he took from a comfortably seated one!
I would comment that it won't workout good since for many other issues like "स्वच्छ भारत" and all did educate the people but they didn't take any initiative for it.
Number two, In Chennai , Auto drivers ask more money is OK because they interests are not being heard.BUT THEY DO CHEAT CONSUMERS TO EARN THEIR LOT.
1 a)Students can be given projects on consumer rights. b)Including consumer rights chapter in all secondary class textbooks. c)Competitions can be conducted on this particular topic. 2 When i bought a packet of chips, a label was stuck over the MRP of the packet. I thought that the chips had discount and bought it. After buying i tore the label and saw the MRP which was less than the rate of the label over it. This way i was been cheated as a consumer.
1] students can be made aware about about the rights by - organising events - awareness programmes - social media - distribution of pamphlets 2] i have been cheated on various lines especially on sales. Nowadays online shopping has become very common, the quality that is viewed or expected is not the same as the quality that is provided to us !!!!!
But he/she may exchange or return these products back if you buy from good and TRUSTED websites. Also, partially you are right, consumers are exploited if they buy from site like let us for example shop991for.com then ,there is a chance that the money or details you give fall into wrong hands and thus result in cyber crime
i strongly disagree the fact that online shopping "now-a-days has become a menace"... you dont always get bad quality of goods from the online stores like flipkart or amazon..... In case you have purchased from sites like "aliexpress" and "91mobiles" its your fault since they are utterpoor in their quality! Also , when you receive such sub-standard goods you can always return them...you should appreciate their honesty!...

harsh it is not only the social media has created the awareness but it also advertising in TV that the products are excellent in quality and quantity. but when the consumer's buy the same product it is not having that much quality in what they expect why?
that clearly means you didn't read the ad carefully some ads use intelligent words like 'up to 50 percent discount' which can result in the discount in being anywhere near or below 50 (sometimes its also 0) and below these commercials you can notice wordings such as 'on selected items only' or 'under terms and conditions' which is not noticed by most people
